Default Help with brake PEDAL concerns

On recent purchase, 2004 Discovery II, brake pedal seems to require too much distance before it functions properly, well. No, it doesn't feel spongy, and it works well, but compared to my earlier 1991 Range Rover Classic, pedal has to be pushed much longer distance on Discovery II. Brake pads look about new, and brakes work really well, but pedal seems to have need to be within only a couple of inches from floor, so that concerns me. I am thinking that the last owner tried to bleed the brakes, but didn't do it right, or some such thing, so they need bleeding, to get pedal to be more normal. WHAT YOU ALL THINK?

Flush brake system with 2 quarts of DOT4 fluid, and bleed properly at end, use a one man bleeder from parts store if you are a lone wolf DIY sort of guy.

And, if over 100,000 miles on the truck, consider replacing the 6 rubber brake lines with stainless steel replacements for a much firmer pedal.
