Until recently I got both, the Land Cruiser and Land Rover, both 1997. (around 150K ) My wife and I don't have a specific car for each. She just looks at the gas tank in the morning, the fuller one is hers. All I can say is that the Rover has given me a lot more fun, including the repairs LOL. I definitely will skip the DII. If and when I replace the DI it will be with LR3. The Land Cruiser got replaced recently by an FJ Cruiser which of course is not a one to one replacement.

 

leadfoot, you'd rather have an independent suspension LR3 over a solid axle D2?

 

Nite train, I already gave up the solid front axle with the FJ Cruiser. You are right, the solid one is the best, but since I moved to Illinois I feel like I might as well be driving a 4wd car. I never thought I would feel like this, but there is no off Road in Illinois. There a couple of private parks, but that is not for me. A bunch of ATV and motorcycles and 4x4 going around in circles, come on... For me 4 wheeling is to go from point A to point B with a few friends while enjoying nature, clean air a good view. The Rockies are now 20 hours away.
