I got them in the right orientation. I used new bolts, and they had loctite/adhesive so no seize was not an option. At least I don't think it was.

I put copper anti-seize under the bolt head flange and shoulder, as well as the mating surfaces of those spacers.

Also copper spray a gasket for the exhaust manifold gaskets

Yes, it can be done...but why anyone in their right mind would want to have a case iron exhaust manifold bolted to an aluminum head...while torquing it down...is beyond me. If folks are doing this, I can understand the poor results being found with head gasket replacement jobs.
