Default Help! Idle at 3000rpm after head gasket job

I just finished replacing the head gaskets on my 2000 DII with 110K. When I started the engine, it jumped to 3000 rpm and won't come down. I shut down the engine after 1-2 min. and checked all the hoses and connectors. Everything seems to be secured and connected to the right places. I started the engine again and it still idle at 3000rpm.

Can somebody help me diagnose this problem? A list of steps to take and procedure will be greatly appreciated...

Mine did the same, it got gradually better over a few days. I figured it was all the sprays for cleaning and lube mixed with the computer reseting. Run it out on the road for a bit. Oh yea check for vac leaks first to make sure, but it should clear up completly in a few days.

what happens if you disconnect the throttle cable from the manifold?? could the cable possibly be caught somewhere to cause it to not have enough slack??
