Default Help with replacing a sun visor

Hello everyone,

A sun visor clip broke off on my D2. I got a genuine replacement part but ran into another problem: I can’t fit it into a sun visor tab mount.

The previous owner of my car replaced the headliner and it looks like the tabs that hold the sun visor clip mount is not there. What I have is a single hole for a screw that cannot fit the push-pin design of the retainer. I highlighted the part in the picture below.

As I see it, I got a few options.

1. Remove the push-pin part of the clip and screw the clip in. This is a sub-optimal hack.

2. Drill out the hole so that it fits the push-pin. I am leaning towards this approach.

3. Get a proper mount. But do I have to remove the liner to do that?

If you have any other ideas, please let me know. Also, if you have a picture of what the mount looks like underneath the headliner, I’d really appreciate it. I do not want to drill into the areas I do not fully understand.

Thank you!

P.S. I looked at my other sun visor. Well, it is fastened only with a screw. I did not expect it to be done properly as the headliner was not installed by a shop that specializes in LRs.

And here is what my mount looks like. Does not seem to be LR material...

Somebody may have installed an plastic anchor into the factory hole to the screw can thread in. Without seeing the hole; it is difficult to say what you are facing. You should be able to put the monunt in place and the tabs act as an anchor to the screw that you install.

Yeah sounds about right... We'll try with one of them and keep you posted.
