Cool High RPM's

My RPM's have been higher than normal last 2 weeks or so. Also sluggish while travling up steep hills where elevation is higher. Always had that problem since I first purchased my truck. When she travels up hill I try to maintain the speed at about 40 mph, but the RPM meter will drop from roughly 3,000 down to 2,200 roughly then the truck will get slightly quicker and the speed with immediately reduce down to roughly 30mph. Give a tad bit more gas then the rpm meter shoots right up to 3,000 again and the engine gets louder. Seems to me that the truck does not like hills very much. Dont know if all our trucks do this or its something unique to my truck. On the highway I typically ride along at 70mph and most of the time the rpm meter is at 3,000 or a tad bit under. Seems she should be a bit lower than that...

Ive have a couple re-accruing pending codes and 1 check engine code:
Pending codes: P0501, P0150, P1171, P1174
Check engine code: P1415

Still have not been able to change the transmission and transfer case fluids as its been to cold out and with the holidays its been busy as hell. I dont have garage space. But in 2 weeks I have an appointment at DAP to pin point the codes and maybe have them fix the problem. Just wondering if anyone had any insight about my RPMs and if it could be related to the codes Im getting or if the rpms are normal.

You need to change your transmission fluid and filter. plus new o2 sensors up stream. It sounds as if your shift points are off under load, ie. tired tranny filter and fluid. The 1415 I think is your gas cap not properly seated, Sometimes if I get a fuel fill up in New Jersey the guys do not replace the cap properly and I throw that code. make sure you gas cap is seated correctly you may need to replace the cap to ensure the proper seal for the emissions. The 501 I am unaware of... speed sensor. The tranny when pulling up a hill will lag a bit sometimes before downshifting thus the drop in overall speed. I use cruise as much as possible on th highway and never really see an issue with this. If Iam on throttle manually I can keep the RPM at the same level and watch the speed drop and lower than what it will on cruise. I have learned that once you feel a slight downgrade in speed to feather the throttle until it downshifts.not sure if that makes sense to you. its kinda drive by feel thing with me and my Matilda. I am certain that each truck is a tad different.
