Anyone remove theirs prior to painting the hood? If so, how?

 

I've never done it myself, but I'd say you could just pry then up with a sharp pocket knife and then peel them off, then just sand it smooth. Heating them up with a hair dryer or heat gun would probably help too.

 

I think you can use dental floss

 

A little heat goes along way when removing something glued to paint.

 

The hood letters are the best part of the disco.
If you take those off you will rob the soul of the beast and it could roll over and die on you.

 

Thanks for the replies guys. I was hoping to reuse the lettering after the painting is done. I am getting my hood and roof repainted probably next week. Almost sounds like it becomes unusable once removed. I do own a heat gun since now I know it's got some adhesive on the back side.

They're pretty cheap. The 04 style you could maybe re-use, but the 99-03 style is more of a thick sticker. Go on eBay and search "land rover hood lettering". You'll get a bunch of different options for around $20 each.
