I'm installing my new hood letters(raised, 2004 style) Can anyone do my a favor and do a couple quick measurements for me? Distance from the pass hood edge to the "L" distance from drivers hood edge to the "R" and distance from the front edge of the hood to the bottom of the letters?
This the placement I went with. It is about 1 1/4" from the bottom of the hood, and 16 1/2 from the edge of the L and R to the outside of the hood.
I battled with deciding whether or not to make the entire logo straight, or parallel to the bottom of the hood. The hood obviously curves lower in the middle.
I had a friend do it for very cheap. Plan for it to be 2-3k for a professional to wrap it. Mine is not perfect, but it is good enough for my tastes and uses.
The rover is a good vehicle to learn/practice on, as it there are very few curves. The most difficult sections are the rear door, due to the dip for the tire carrier, you will almost guaranteed have to do a seam there as you cannot get the slack to go out. I doubt even the best pro could accomplish it, but its no big deal as the spare tire covers most of the area. Just a small portion will show to the right of the carrier.
The roof will also be very difficult in the rear corners because of the steep drop off.
Rear quarter(tail light panel) is hard to do where the hinges are as well due to poor access
I bought about 60ft of vinyl(enough to do whole car, plus roof, and have extra for the inevitable **** up) and that put the materials at about $650 delivered. My body only charged me about $400
Time wise? Plan for 2-3 hours for each panel(Hood, 2x front fender, 4x door, rear quarter x2, tail light panel x2, rear door) so probably 2ish weekends of solid work. You might get quicker near the end
