The electronic connections under the hood are "supposed" to be waterproof to some degree (most connections have seals).

I'd be more worried about the spark plug wires getting wet overnight & causing misfires until they dried out.

I was looking into the hood louver setup off a JK, but it would only cover the center of the hood leaving a lot of unvented area on the sides (however keeping it dry over the spark plug wires on each bank).

Hood's are a dime a dozen, if it doesn't work out a trip to the local junk yard can solve your problem fairly cheap.

I would think any spot is probably as good as any for heat dissipation. All the heat and ingress of air via radiator/fan are creating a high pressure area in the engine bay, so any opening in the hood should provide adequate ventilation.

my biggest concern with water isn't necessarily electrical damage (although this bothers me as well) but the fact that everything in the engine bay, including bare aluminum engine parts, are exposed to the weather all the time. Dirt, mud, plant debris, water, snow, etc... makes for a very dirty, corroded, pain in the ***.

Looks good!
i've run mine for a while. No issues with water ingress in the soggy PacNW.

That's a really slick louver setup.

I "PLANNED" on doing a clean install but i had a few beers before i started. As said before hoods are a dime a dozen at the junk yard so there is no issue swapping it out. As for water getting in, we had a T1 here at NAS JAX today for about 5 or so hours and it was literally raining sideways. It would be a great opportunity to check how much water had gotten in but, it was raining sideways. Had no problem starting and driving home though.

no one worries about the wires or spark plugs on a motorcycle getting wet, so why does it make it different on a car motor?
