Default Hood Mounted Solar Panel

Here is an interesing option to share. I am not affliated with the Canadian seller. Just came across them at the Overland Rally. Kinday pricey (factor in CAN$ 1.3 exchange rate). But still great that aftermarket options are still being considered for the Disco. Doubles somewhat as a hood blackout panel (i.e., it would be nice to have full coverage as well as giving out more than 65 watts).

love the idea but that's a lot of dough for only 65W of solar..

I’d be worried about extra heat too, considering this is a Disco, which already has cooling issues…

I recently purchased this one which is 80W: https://www.lensunsolar.com/index.ph...product_id=596

They also sell a 135W version but its very pricey so I will probably run a second portable panel if I need more power.

The use case here seems exceptionally narrow. First, that’s a ton of money for 65W of solar and secondly now you always have to park your truck facing the sun in order to make it effective. A battery isolator/DC-DC charger set up plus a separate solar panel would be the way to go here, I think.

I think if one of their other offerings with a higher W would make a lot more sense this barely covers the hood compared to the toyoto or even LR3 options. I mean the vehicle orientation if you have a dual battery set up isn't that big of a deal as you'll get sun for a decent part of the day regardless of how you're parked. With a RTT it's hard to use the roof and interior space is a premium so the hood is a decent spot to try and utilize.
