Hood paint questions

Default Hood paint questions

I am most likely going to paint(well, I have a guy) hood inset on my 2000 DII to give it that camel/ G4 thing. My DII is tan. Is the black paint flat or semi. Any help would be great. I last saw my buddys yellow XD and forgot which color black the hood is. Thanks, Les

You can also buy a decal that covers that spot (it is a solid color).

BTW - Cummins shop I use has a customer with a Dodge pickup at over 800K miles, must have GF in Key West....

Decal, interesting. I have a cartoon bubble of very large air bubbles after it is applied. Can you recommend a source. I am semi new to the rover life style.

Decal. Mine's from the factory and has held up since 2002.

The basic trick with any of the stick on large decals is to clean the painted surface (no grit), then coat the back of the sticker with a mix of soapy water. You can slide it around until it is perfect, and use a credit card or Bondo spatula to squeege out all the bubbles.

just like applying tint. its the best way to get it to stay long term without damaging the paint.

I just bought one from Rovers North for my 04. Since I don't have a heated shop and live in ND, I will have to wait until spring to put it on.

i bought mine from VIG I believe. Lot of guys bought them there. I haven't installed it so I can't comment. Mine is sure to fade the fastest tho.
