Hood Release Failed
I know this has been posted before, any solution besides breaking the grill or headlight. My hood has been very hard to shut, had to slam it with all my weight about ten times before it would catch (meaning would stay down all the way), while doing this I could still reach under and pull the yellow latch to open the hood. Now that doesn't work either.
Was wondering, had my windshield replaced by safelite 2 days prior, do you think they might have done something (do they even have to open the hood to change the windshield?).
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Try someone sitting on the hood front and pulling the releaser, praying the cable will not break.
Before getting into trouble, I did this. It may help :

What kind of grease can I use on the spring part, I know WD40 isn't that great.
This type of cable oiler might also help as well.
I used to use an old bicycle inner tube (6" length plus inflation valve at one end) clamped on the cable with electrical tie wraps then filled with a small amount of oil and then sealed and pressurised with a cycle pump. It worked like a dream on my motorbike brake and clutch cables. These days they are Teflon coated.

Murphy's law says...
When you finish oiling the actuator cable in its jacket, you will find what binds is the latch pivot.
That is what cured mine, oiling the release mechanism under the hood.

When I had my windshield replaced the shop removed my hood, so I'm sure that's what happened to yours.
They didn't put the hood in the same spot when they tightened the four hood bolts--same as yours.

Sounds to me more like misalignment of the bonnet than a lube issue. But you can't address either if you can't get the damn thing open. For that I have no secret sauce to offer. I wish I did.
