Default Horn beeps and doors dont lock when I "lock" my 2003 D2

Its a recent intermittent problem. I pull into a parking spot, I hop out, and hit my remote lock button, and instead of hearing the usual "Clack" of all the doors locking, I get a beep from my horn,....then I notice none of my doors have locked. This is the same thing that happens if I try to lock the doors with one open,......horn beep and no doors locked.

So, in the 3 or 4 times that this has happened, I walk around the entire truck and open then securely close every door,....but it makes no difference, I still get the horn beep and no doors locking. The fix so far has been to get back in the truck and drive it for a few more minutes,....then return to my parking spot, hop out, and it now will usually lock and no horn beeping.

Anyone had these symptoms and if so,....is there a known fix for it?

Yep, part of the alarm circuit is not making correct/good contact, often the hood switch on the front drivers side, it lets water in. It's the rubber hooded switch.

Disconnect the battery and reconnect it after a couple of minutes as the alarm system may have become 'confused'. (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR RADIO CODE FIRST) If this doesn't work checkout the security system with a diag: reader.

Thanks, I'll check the hood alarm switch and do the battery disconnect.

Hello.

I know this thread is many years old, but I’m currently experiencing this exact thing with my 2016 RR TD6. What was the ultimate fix with this? I feel like I need to bring it in to the dealer.

Thanks for any help in advance

Carl
