Default Weird door locking

Ok, recently I have been having a weird occurrence when I lock my doors sometimes. I click the lock button on the remote, and the horn honks like there's a door open. I walk around the truck, open, then close firmly all the doors, try again, same thing. The next time I try to lock the doors after having driven the truck for a while, it works just fine. Can someone tell me what might be causing this intermittently? I could figure it out if it was all the time, but since it's not predictable, it's kinda hard to figure out.

How old is your battery? I know D2 electrics have a tendency to act funny when the battery is going bad. Maybe have your battery checked?

This may seem dumb but try opening and closing your hood. This happens to me sometimes after I close my hood I go to lock the door and get the horn sound so I open and close the hood again and no horn. Idk that might be me not shutting it hard enough but worth a shot.

Don't think it's a matter of not shutting hard enough. It would more likely be the switch under the hood is not adjusted to the proper height, or it is going bad and needs to be cleaned or replaced, or a bad connection.

IMHO unplug under hood switch, so you can avoid the dead battery - jumped it off- went into immobilzation problems. Of course, I don't live in a garden spot like Newark, where you have to take your engine block inside each night. In Rome, not a lot of problems with the "born to be mild" crowd from Berry College.

Battery is brand spanking new Optima Yellow Top. Thanks for the tip about the hood switch. I didn't think about that because it only happens randomly after driving and having opened and closed one or more doors, not the hood. I did have the heads done back in November, and the shop removed the hood during the process, so maybe they didn't get the switch reinstalled exactly in the right spot. I'll check it out tomorrow some time. And no Savannah, don't have to worry too much about things running off in the middle of the night around here.
