If you keep the spring clamps, getting the pliers for them is a must. I fought this purchase for a long time and got very frustrated many times in the process. I finally caved and bought one and OMG... I love these clamps now. One tricky thing though.. you have to pay attention to the size of the clamp and size of the fitting. The thermostat is a great example. There are two size clamps for that one part alone and putting the "bigger" one on the smaller opening will allow a bit of a leak.

All this to say... if you change them out to screw type, hands down the best are BMW clamps. They have smooth insides so they don't mar or cut into your hoses like the traditional screw clamps do.

I grab the best SS hose clamps I can find at my local hardware store.

Well my choice is easy, I get high quality (usually german) screw type hose clamps for free from work, constantly throwing them away actually. Can't really justify not using them for anything and everything. A random but nice perk.
