Default Hot air coming from center console

When I first start my 2003 Discovery 2 SE7, I notice hot air coming from the front of the center consolde (where the gear shift and lighter are located). The hot air is blowing to the driver and passenger side footwell.

The climate control is OFF! To get rid of it, I have to turn on the A/C. What the heck is going on? Is this normal behavior for the Land Rovers?

Any help from the forum is appreciated!

Thanks

Al

Normal kinda but the warm air usually comes out of vents.

Rover tried for 2 years to correct that problem. Sometimes if you turn on the a/c for a minute or two then go to vent, the heat won't be as high.

Mike,
So you know about this issue? Is it on all Disco 2's or just a few? What is it?

Thanks Al

Yes we know about this, I have never been in one that did not do it. Like Mike said its something that Rover said we can deal with and gave up on it.

You are at the mercy of the programmers for the HVAC, when they went to automatic AC the blend flaps are controlled by servo motors, rather than the older style you decide how far cables and *****.
