Default hot/ stuck emergency brake and...

A couple months ago Our emergency brake handle stuck in the down position. Now it is heating up at the base to an extremely hi temp. We are also receiving a fault. And the radio will flutter on and off if the foot brake is used or window rolled down, sunroof opened...

I just spoke with the service rep at our local dealer and they said they have never heard of this. I find it hard to believe considering I have read an earlier post here about the E-Brake heating and cable plastic melting. Anyway, I am a bit concerned that this could be a simple fix but will evolve into a "can of' worms' at the dealer.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like your parking brake is partialy stuck and is rubbing on the brake drum and getting hot.

In case you didnt know the park brake is on the back of the transfer case. So when you set it you lock all four wheels not just the back two.

Have your mechanic back the adjustment off alittle on the park brake.
I think your other issues are seperate. Have your battery and alternator tested.

check your engine grounds... if you lose one, or its loose, the easiest place for the voltage to ground out is your p/b cable... check the main one that should attach to the ps front of the engine, on front of the alt bracket
