I get one of those oscillating sprinklers and park the Rover on my lawn. I stick the sprinkler under the truck and let er run (the sprinkler that is).

If Bang were to do that, he would have the greenest yard in his neighbor hood, with all that cow poop.

The alternator on a LR is water proof.
Wash the mud off at the DIY carwash and then hit the full service wash for the undercarrage.

Can I just get done and power wash the undercarriage myself? The full service wash in town sucks big kahunas.

Use a pressure washer and this is what it is supposed to look like when you are finished...

When you spray out the engine do you need to wait a bit before you start it and drive or is it good to go?

On a DII, no... I have had NO issues starting the car and driving off. I have washed mine twice since ownership (bought in Sep 2008) and my friends 04. I lay off the pressure on a few electrical plugs just to be safe and around some vacuum line connections so i dont accidentally force them off and get water in them. I also wash a bit, turn the car on-then off, wash some more, turn it on...etc just to make sure. I did that only twice...

Also make sure your Air intake arm is on correctly and tight so you don't get water in anywhere and for older DIIs or neglected ones, watch for unshielded wires near plugs so you don't short anything.

I have used engine degreaser but that's for everything under the valve covers and only the sides and underneath of the motor... you can use a mild water based cleaner on the top if water pressure alone wont do the trick. Strong cleaners may leave a residue and affect electrical connections. Once you wash it nicely and it looks like mine in the pics, then you wont need a cleaning solution if you keep up with it.
