Depending on how old your truck is and your location, the hardware might be welded together with rust. If it were me, I'd probably just throw a sheet over the hood and front bumper and refinish it while it's still attached to the truck.

Attempting to strip and repaint your brush guard while it’s still attached is a comical suggestion. Have you looked where it is attached to the truck? I mean have you actually looked under the front bumper? There are some bolts under there, take them out. There might be some tabs under each headlights, unscrew those. BOOM

Previous owner on mine had a brush guard installed and couldn’t remove the bolts due to rust, so they cut it off with a sawzall. The front mounts are still visible in front of the truck. Might not be easy as you think.

Be warned that if you take the Sawzall approach, you might regret it. I picked up a brush bar without the hardware and it took several months and a few hundred dollars to acquire a set.

Yeah. Definitely not the way to go, but I have the previous owner to thank.

The OP hasn’t even found the bolts yet. And if they are rusted you can still get them out, you just might not be able to reuse them.

Mine has the same brush guard when I got it. Yeah, the bolts were rusted, did it suck getting them off? Yeah. Were they reusable? No.

Can’t believe someone would just hack the thing off and leave the mounts still attached, wow.

Wow. I'd use an angle grinder or something else to cut off the bolts if they were too rusted to remove otherwise before I'd take a Sawzall to the mounts. But first I'd try heating the nuts with a torch, even a hand-held propane torch.

There's no end to the geniusry out there.
