You are correct, air does enter via the bleed screw threads but is difficult to isolate the problem. There are bleed screws around mostly used for motorbikes which can overcome this problem as they have NRV's internally and soft sealed threads. The only other option is to wind some PTFE plumbing tape around the bleed nipple threads first before screwing them back into the caliper. You will lose some brake fluid doing this option though and it's messy.

I know it's been mentioned on this thread a couple times but here is a nice diagram from the RAVE for proper brake bleed sequence. It differentiates between RHD and LHD models. From page 70-31.
