Default how many times can cyl heads be skimmed

How many times can cylinder heads be skimmed, typically? If they have been done once, is there a guideline? Can it be answered without removing the head and examining?

RAVE indicates a maximum of .02" can be removed in total. How much does a typical resurfacing remove? (I understand it depends on the severity of the warping. Just looking for a typical number)

@WaltNYC You cannot really tell until they are off. If they are still true it is in thousands of an inch between .003 and .005 generally, really almost a polish. If there was any warpage it may a one and never again thing. So no typical amount it varies widely.
