How much?
How much coolant will I lose if I replace my thermo tonight? I'd like to get it done now, but don't have any coolant here at work to replace the amount I lose. Replacing it with the 180 degree genuine stat, PEL500110.

1/2 gallon. On a D1. More on a D2. Go to corner store and get a gallon of distilled water. And takes some pictures of you changing that stat, cameras still have self timers.... probably just see your feet sticking out from under the truck.
Vise grip pliers on hose and rags help also. Or C clamp and some wood strips.

When I swapped mine out I lost between .75 and 1 gallon of fluid just from draining out of the hoses connected to the stat. That leaves what, 1 gallon still in there? Should be enough if you just refill with water to get you to the store for some coolant. Be sure and have two or three pans ready, it spills out underneath in all kinds of directions!

When I did mine, it was so incredibly difficult, until my hand and the wrench both bent in the correct position, and voila, the clamps came right off. I can't remember what bend that was, but it was simple when it happened.
I'm sure it was some sort of Yoga move.
I remember pulling the fuel line from my 99 XJR Fuel Tank and same thing, the correct angle and it's off. Otherwise, you could break an arm up in there on the XJR.
