Your supposed to pump it full until it starts to bulge the rubber seals around the u-joints ....Use too much and it will sling excess on to your cat converter...I hit mine with grease after i take it off road...or every oil change ..

Grease at every oil change, pump it in until new grease is seen coming out of all the seals.
You can tell new from old, old is dirty.

x2 pump until old dark greases look new again from ALL seals (not just a couple, every end of the +) wipe of the old crap or smell it cook.

Yes, pump until new grease comes out of each cap. Then, if you have one, hit the joints with a pressure washer to clean off the excess. If you don't have one, use a garden hose with a high pressure nozzle.

Do not forget there is a sealed grease fitting on the drive shaft itself.

Front drive shaft.
There is a little hex set screw which you need to take out.
Put in a grease nipple.
Grease it.
Remove nipple and put the set screw back in.
This is for the slip shaft movement in and out / front to back movement.

Looks like I will be getting back under the truck after work 2maro and greasing it some more. I juat gave it about 5 pumps per zerk fitting and it is clear that wasnt nearly enough. Thanks as always for the advice and the clear direction on this.

Regards
Edgar

And don't forget to grease both slip shafts at least once a year.

Another approach is to get 2 grease guns and have a different color grease in each one. Makes it easier to tell when you have fresh grease.

While were on this topic, I'm still a little unclear on greasing the centering ball. I've read anticrist's posts discussing the use of an injection needle to get grease in there, but does the driveshaft have to be removed to accomplish this? I don't see how to get grease in there any other way.
