My rear frame was also rusted, cut out the rusted part and then weld the new plates onto it. Either mig or arc can be used just remember to remove battery leads and also unplug the alternator. I have used both mig and arc on the frames but find that mig is easier to get into the tighter places
They're thicker than the factory metal, but your input is appreciated. I always make sure to trust what people write on the internet.

I don't work for RN and so am not offended by your claim, but it does prompt the obvious question of how you came to your conclusion.

Is it possible the welding job was done poorly.

I think it's moot for my situation. The rust starts about 18 in farther forward on the frame.

I was over 20 years as a senior master tech for Land Rover and also use to work for myself as well. I have done a lot of welding. I have found that these replacements parts not at strong.

I also have a real loathing for britparts. I know they are cheap but that is for a reason and have seen there parts fail when they should have not. It got to the point where if some one supplied there own parts and they were britparts I would not install them.

Like anything it's only my opinion and as some one said opinions are like **** holes every one has one!
