Default How to program remote?

A couple of years back I purchased a 2 button remote for my 98 D1 as the truck didn't have one. The remote seems genuine and has "Lucas 3TxB" on the back. At the time I tried using the program instructions that came with it (they are the same as in the RAVE) but nothing happens. I don't get the beep or flashing LED after carrying out the procedure for initialising the remote handset. The alarm is working perfectly with the key.

Any suggestions? here's the procedure from RAVE that I use. I tried it sitting in the car and also standing alongside with the drivers door open as the manual is not specific.
1)ign off, doors unlocked, bonnet (hood) closed
2) steps 3-9 to be done within 8 secs
3)switch ign on
4)switch ign off
5)lock doors
6)unlock doors
7)release bonnet (hood)
8)switch ign on
9)switch ign off

Then it says hold the remote button (doesn't say which one) until LED flashes on dash. Never happens. I metered the battery in the remote and it's ok.

Well the guy that sold me the remote said the RAVE procedure worked correctly on everyone elses that had done it so I think the problem lies only with me. Try following the procedure in RAVE and let me know.

Thanks Spike but as I mentioned in my initial post I did follow the RAVE procedure and nothing happens at the end when I press the remote button to sync it, no red LED.

If you lock the drivers door with the key does the red LED come on?

Mine does the same thing, alarm works fine, but will not go into learning or program mode(whatever its called) following that procedure. Its the same procedure i found in about 4 diffrent spots.

When you go through the steps, does it matter if you lock/unlock with the inside lock button or use the key outside?

I thought about that too but it would be kinda tough to do all that in 8 seconds if you also had to open and close the door from the outside and then hop in to insert the key in the ign. think I will try it using 2 keys, one already in the ign ready to turn and one in the door lock on the outside. I'll let you know but I don't hold out much hope.
