Has anyone actually achieved programing a remote using the RAVE procedure? If so could you please confirm if the procedure is carried out while sitting inside the vehicle or standing outside the vehicle, using the key in the door?

I just tried both. From inside the vehicle the horn and dash LED does not trigger as the RAVE says it should, just dead silence and a blank dash. Alarm does trigger when the procedure is done from outside the vehicle but holding the remote button does not cause the dash LED to flash per the RAVE manual.

Trying to do the procedure from outside the vehicle in 8 seconds seems impossible to me.

You don't say what year and model of car you're talking about, which makes it a bit difficult to have an opinion; you might want to put those in your profile/signature.

So it is. My apologies: I clicked "go to newest post" and then completely missed that it was a second page.

The remote is "new" out of the packet. It has just been in the drawer for 2 years because I couldn't sync it back then either.

We are assuming that you replaced the battery in the remote with a brand new one.

At this point the condition of the remote is a non-issue. The RAVE procedure is not working. According to the manual once the steps are completed the horn should sound and the LED on the dash should be solid red, only then can you program the remote.

I and the other person that posted carried out the steps but no horn or light on the dash which means that the alarm system is not going into "learning" mode. Until that happens the remote cannot be sync'd.

I just syncd my fob last week. All i did was hold the unlock button while i unlocked the door with the key. I kept having same problems. I took the battery out of the fob and had the battery disconected in the rover for a few minutes before i did it. Maybe try that once. That was on my 98 D1 I would assume they would be the same

Were you re-synching an existing fob or was it new to the Rover?
