Awesome, congrats!! I did notice that the vehicle had one owner BUT it was a lease. I'm willing to bet a lot that routine maintenance wasn't kept up on this vehicle because it was a lease. Why take care of it when you're going to give the vehicle back?? Ask to see maintenance records if they have them. Just so you can see that simple things like oil changes took place on the vehicle. You never know with leased vehicles. People can be harsh if they know they don't have to reap the consequences. Just a thought.

Good day everyone.

I got it. That beast of 4x4 beauty is sitting in my garage, freshly washed, armoralled, with a touch of fabreeze just to keep it smelling nice. Folks I'm pumped, honestly I haven't been this excited in my life in a very long time. Thanks to everyone who responded to my post here on the boards and it is greatly appreciated. I will consider the extended warranty as the dealer I bought from made a stipulation in the contract that I have 7 days to purchase it.
I love it. What more can I say about it.
After I registered the vehicle with a plate I filled it up and went driving. I didn't care where I went I just went driving and did I have a good time. I even went to some of the areas where this housing development going on and played around on some of the hills and through a few trails made by the heavy equipment. I've yet to find any decent off road trails where I live but that is for another post.

I know I promised photos tonight but it's dark and I want to get some great ones and share them with you all. Again thank you everyone so much, honestly I mean that, for all of your input.

Oh and by the way I was totaly off base in my subject title, my new Discovery is not an SE7 is is infact an SE

Holy frick I'm excited !!!!!

Now please read the quote below

ORIGINAL: Darover

As long as its not light green and has side steps. Sounds and looks real nice, but they're asking at least $5000.00 too much for it. But then again, I checked the other years also, and the market prices seem very high in alberta. So, either get the price down, or get them to add the full warranty in the price.

Yes my Discovery is light green and it yes it does have side steps. I have a serrious question and to make this very clear,I have no tone of humor with in this question.

Darover will youcontact me via e mail or some other form of message if you haveany information which may be a safety hazard orcouldbe a very high priced repair to the vehicle I just purchased?
I will say this again, the above question I just posed is completely serrious and if Darover has information about my vehicle I would hope that he or she would share that information with me.

AH, calm down Dude, I don't know your vehicle. Lets just say that my job has me naturally investigate things

Inoticed that your mileage was in kilometers, so I was curious since I'm canadian also and was wondering if it was in my region. Per the form of your ad, I knew that this was from an auto trader ad. I checked your profile and saw that you were from Edmonton, Alberta. Then checked on auto trader in your area to seea Disco with the mileage you posted, opened the ad....And VoilÃ* !!!!! there was the exact add that you posted as a question with pictures of the Disco and all..

What can I say...Nature of the beast!!!

5things.....

1- Don't even think about it, get the extended warranty from the dealer. You do not know this particular vehicle and you paid a good chunk of moneyfor it. So if you don't want to have to face an important fix, like some $1500.00to $2500.00 for head gaskets or if your shaft takes out your tranny...or anything other, on top of your new monthly payment, especially that you'll find that the fuel mileage alone needs to have a budget of its own, get it and you'll at least know that whatever happens, it won't affect your budget and you can have peace of mind.

2- The fuel mileage you'll be getting is normal. It is no wonder that there's a section in the owner's manual about how to keep fuel economy to its best. Up to date maintenance, and properly inflated tires. No majical potion. Don't even think about the K&N filter, I tried it and not onlydoes it notwork, it made it worst. And its apparently dangerous to damage your MAF ( mass air flow) sensor.

3- If your really gonna use it to play in the dirt, consider removing your side steps.

4- How much did you end up paying for it ????

5- enjoy your Rover

Of course I"m going to be suspicious, I don't mean any ill will towards you though. I"m sure there have been many people on this board who have heard some nasty horror stories about dealerships and what not. I just don't want to be taken for a ride.

With that all said...

I want to thank Darover for his insight. The extended warranty is important so I'm sure I'll get it. Further to that, I"m going to maintain this vehicle to the best of my ability. As for the fule economy issue, Darover is right, there is no magic about it. Properly maintained with the right tire presure and fuel grade....it's not that hard.

THanks again everyone, honestly, thanks.

I just bought my first Rover, 2004 Discovery SE, and I am completely thrilled. I feel like its Xmas morning and I am 8.

As soon as I get some good pics (waiting for this nasty rain to let up) I will post.

Enjoy !

I saw something on the discovery channel that said something like for every 1 PSI your tires are below recommended inflation you lose 1 mpg! Keep those tires up!

And yea those K&N FIPKs can kill your MAF. If the filter gets over-oiled (from the factory or after you clean it and re-oil yourself), the oil will blow through and gum up the MAF...and they are not cheap!
