I’ve been looking for a semi-daily driver Disco for a while now. I ended up finding a 2003 Disco in Monte Carlo blue in great condition about 3 hours from me. It is super clean and has a rust-free frame (getting to be hard to find here in VA). It must have been garaged / covered at some point because the paint is in really great shape.

I drove it 3 hours home. It drives great. The only problems I’ve noticed are: (1) AC is not working, looks to be missing the AC compressor clutch; (2) slight misfire only at hot idle; (3) slipping cylinder liner; (4) oil leak from front of the engine (appears to be either front cover, oil pan at front, or crank pulley seal). The liner only seems to slip above 200 degrees F, so I plan on trying out my overdrive water pump pulley and putting in a low temp thermostat. I may also go to electric fans. My current plan is to leave it stock otherwise.

I already have another Monte Carlo blue Disco that I rescued from a junkyard that needs a lot. I am not sure what I am going to do with that one. I may put it up for sale soon if someone is looking for a project.

Hey I know it’s a long shot but do you still have a Monte Carlo blue D2? I’m in VA and have been scouring the country looking for Icelandic or Monte Carlo blue. I just sold one of my 3 D2s and looking for a unicorn.

 

I actually have two Monte Carlo blue D2s at the moment. I am looking to sell one. It’s a project and needs work. Happy to chat, feel free to send me a PM.
