Angry I just got Raped at the dealer!!!

I bought what I thought was 50 dollar water pump at the dealer only find out that they charged me $500. Of coarse I already put it on but have not installed the fan or fluid back in the Disco. What are the chances they are going to take it back, I did not use the gasket provided.

When I called to check if they had a pump and see what it cost I swear they said 56 something with a 30 something core charge. I know that I should have looked at my receipt closer but how can they charge over double the most expensive OE pump I can find for sale on the net?? I seriously wanted to throw up when I saw the price.

And the last kicker is that I was so close to having every thing back together after over a week of the thing being apart.

Thanks guys I feel stupid and had to rant.

Here is a picture of one of my nice clean heads ready to go back on.

you didn't get raped, you just didn't pay attention to the cost of the parts. I mean seriously you had to sign a reciept with the price on it.

What were you asleep at the wheel or drunk when you picked it up?

Don't take a shower. The police will want to swab for evidence.

I think i would be taking the pump off and taking it back to the stealer use acetone to remove the sealant if you used any, goodluck

BTW there is no such thing as a 50 dollar waterpump from the dealer, I guess you know that now.........
If it sounds too good to be true, well.............

I think you're SOL since you signed the receipt...good rule of thumb..nothing cost $50 at a rover dealership except maybe a hat...when they're on sale.

Give them a call, they drop the price for you. I have had a very positive experience with the Miramar LR in San Diego. They usually give a discount to LR Club members. I don't know of any LR clubs as tight as this one, LRR.

Good luck. Atlantic British lists their OEM water pump at about $200. They have a sale right now at $180 or so. When I bought mine last week, they matched the price of British Pacific at $143.50. Installed and working great, so far........

All the best, Phil

I would have s**t a brick, probably the size of a house. there's no way that I would have seen prices on line for for around 200 and then believe that the dealership was selling them for 50 dollars. How much are you going to get back when you bring the old wp back? At least that'll take some of the sting of it away.

Expensive lesson learned, but a lesson learned nonetheless

I did not sign anything I paid over the phone thinking it was $50 and change. I did this because I am in a wheel chair and did not want to go inside. They just ran it out to the car. I will see how it goes on Monday.
