I'm not sure if voltage readings from 02's vary between open loop and closed loop? I haven't researched this. I guess if I was ASE patched, I would already know this...

I need to maybe read back on this thread, but didn't you write this engine is burning a quart of oil every thousand miles? If that's the case, your cats are probably toast....MO
Yes, 1000 miles OR LESS per quart of oil. I never see it smoking out the tailpipe,...but I can smell the oil burning in the exhaust whenever I walk around the back of the truck with the engine running.

Just seeing this, yes,...I tried to have my truck inspected yesterday after resetting my 1450 code. All looked good, until the very end where they found my gas cap was leaking and I had 3 "not Ready" alerts,...returned home and ordered an OE cap,...and now need to put some miles on the truck until all monitors are ready,...then keep my fingers crossed.

I also crawled under the truck yesterday while it ws running. Using my infrared laser temp gun,....I could see that the exhaust pipe temps just behind the cats was just about the same as the temp of the pipe just before the cat. Seems like it would be hotter after the cats if they were working.

I bought a cat assy from Atlantic British for my D1 years ago on Sale for $600.
It works great.

Assuming they have a different one for the D2 but basically the same.

Here is my D1 writeup

http://jeffreyfall.com/landrover

Will apply mostly to the D2 also.

I had a D2 with a bad head gaskets and lucky this did not affect my cats.

If your cats are bad, make sure that you are not getting antifreeze into them from bad
head gaskets or bad valley gasket sucking antifreeze into a cylinder.
