Default I think windshield or gutter leak. Any ideas? Pics

I took off my headliner today to track down a leak that occurs during moderate to heavy rain. It always drips from around the passenger A pillar when sitting still or can move all around the front of the headliner while driving. So, with headliner off I soaked the sunroofs with the hose and they are amazingly leak free although it did start to drip a little by the A pillar. After finishing its drip, I then soaked the outside A pillar and gutter while not wetting the sunroof, and the leak came back. I threw in some pics of where the drip occurs and the outside of the A pillar. If you notice in the last pic, that curved trim piece has a chunk broken off it making a kinda triangle shape. The driver's side is not like this, allowing the water to run onto the windshield. I'm wondering if over time this has caused water to wear out the seal around the windshield in that corner. Anyhow, I guess I will get some sealant tomorrow and seal around that area. Any suggestions on sealant type or technique? Thanks!

You can see the drip here right under that last rivet.

Here's where you can see the triangle piece where a chunk has come off

mine is leaking in the same place and Im also missing the corner trim. I think I will try hitting it with some black rtv before I go and pull the headliner.

Well, just put some windshield silicone from Autozone on that corner and up the gutter. Needs to cure overnight, and I will test it with the garden hose again and report back. Fingers crossed.

Good luck. Water leaks are a PIA! I've chased them for years in my DI. Finally said screw it and just pulled the carpet so its bare metal that can easily dry.

Well, there is improvement. Took a long steady flow of water to get just one drop from that spot. Going to add some more around the area and do the driver's side for prevention. I also got some black waterproof outdoor silicone to seal up the cowl to the windshield. Hoping to be completely leak free.

While you have your headliner out if you already haven't done it yet you should get that fabric off there and paint it with some plastic dip or truck bed liner to avoid a sag later on. Also try that stop leak stuff on tv. You can usually find it in the as seen on tv isle at walmart. That stuff is awesome!

Great! I will have to give that a try. I think I would rather rtv the sunroof and not use it vs pulling the headliner.

On top of that! It is almost ready to paint. Just using regular black paint and primer. The foam removal is tedious.

It's not that bad of a job, and if it's sagging, you can fix that too. It took me a little over an hour to get it out, and I took out all the rear panels too. We'll see how easy it is to get back in though..
