Do the plug wires (8MM Magnacor) and plugs (Bosch +4) while you have the IM off to do the heads. Makes it a ton easier.

Actually, the truck got brand new OEM Dealer wires (The really expensive ones) about 2000 miles ago. I've got the 8mm magnacores sitting here, and will do that when I reassemble.

I put in Bosch Platinum +4s when I got the truck, and had nothing but misfires and problems. The mechanic I took it to for a second opinion said to never use bosch platinum plugs, and put in NGK copper core plugs. I've had zero misfires issues since.

Does anybody know how I can really verify that my head gaskets are bad? My wost fear is to get down to the block and find they aren't bad....

Take it to a shop and have a coolant pressure test done. They can inject dye and check for leaks with a UV light. You need to see where it is coming from. If you can see it dripping out, get under the truck and search. Get an inspection mirror. Otherwise, take it to a shop.

The reason you had misfires is they put on the factory plug wires (the really expensive one"s) Copper plugs are fine with whatever wires you run. The +4's give you more low end torque, but they have to be mated with the proper insulated wires or you don't get all of the spark you need.
