wow cleaned that sucker up and eliminated a bunch of small problems...no codes but idles better shifts better and accelerates better...I used some throttle body cleaner and flush it out...any thoughts?

Is there any danger to cleaning it? Like, easily breakable pieces, etc?

 

it came out pretty easy whatever you do don't disconnect the black hose at the air intake it will break.. cheap plastic...I just detached at the iCV only...I sprayed the crap out of it....the metal clip on the back of the motor has to be popped off to completely remove it..do this last

 

This thread just changed my rover’s life… my ICV was completely stuck. I was getting rough idle every time the engine was turned on, major shifting jolts to the point that I thought my driveshaft or transmission was the culprit. Half a can of throttle body cleaner, and a few tough bumps into a rag on a hard surface later….we have movement in the valve and an engine that runs AND sounds like it should.

It now shifts smooth as glass, and RPMs are not fluctuating all over the place.

Yep they can get really gross!

 

Sprayed mine out yesterday, it actually didn't seem that bad. I reset adaptions after cleaning it. Unfortunately it didn't take care of the little stumble I have at idle.

 

What is the best cleaner for this? My gut tells me electronic cleaner but some have used throttle body cleaner and/or carburetor cleaner.

 

Or Brake Cleaner

 

This is on my list to do. When I did the throttle body heater, I cleaned up the TB a bit, but I’m sure I should do the same to the ICV. It’s good to see most have good results with doing this and since I put nothing but tractor gas in mine, it probably wouldn’t hurt anything.

 

Sounds like my spray can of "Parts Cleaner and Degreaser" would do the trick. Thank you!
