My best friend is a die hard jeeper. He just doesn't understand how much better built a LR really is. Not to mention how much safer. He told me the list of stuff he plans to do to his next jeep to set it up for search and rescue. My list for my Disco was much shorter and accomplishes the same goal. But my best friend is only 24 so he still has some growing up to do. LOL.

The new Dodges with their coil suspension are really nice. All they have to do is get rid of the IFS and put a solid axle back under the front end to make it even better. My primary vehicle is a 2007 Dodge 1500 that has the IFS. I like the way it rides on the road but I wouldn't trust it off road like I do my Rover's solid axles.

 

Well I would simply say that I miss the Cherokee and the line 6 engine. Those were tough and very cheap to repair. It is sad that Jeep lowered the quality standards of their trucks. I used to like those trucks.

Side note... my best buddy has a Dakota and we have beaten the hell out of that truck and it simply doesn't want to die. It is way tougher than I thought it would be with barely no mantenance at all. He bought it 500$ 2 years ago and it is still runnig.

I agree the new jeeps are built weak, Now on the other hand my 52 flatfender will go anywhere.
My disco will go anywhere too and I have AC,radio, great seats, powersteering, the list goes on.
