If you here any birds chirping or slight vibrations while driving your disco
make SURE you inspect your front driveshaft. I felt a vibration for the last 50 or so miles with a slight chirping for the last 5 of those so I decided to inspect the front driveshaft. This is what I found....... Do you think this is rebuildable or shot? I already replaced it with one from lucky8 off road. I was thinking about rebuilding this for a spare though.
First inspect everything, yoke, shaft, etc. But if just the U joint/cap is bad then yes rebuild it with some quality GKN U joints (TVC100010G). > RovahFarm for all your new Land Rover Parts and Accessories Just get it balanced after the rebuild.
If the yoke is cracked or the cap holes are out of round then no it's scrap.
And now go buy a Lottery Ticket because you just got WAAAAAY LUCKY that propshaft didn't toast your Auto Trans.

It's not so much difficult as fiddly providing you have the right tools. The centreing ball is manufactured by Neapco but the guys here on the forum will advise you where to buy it. It'll take you a whole day to remove, rebuild and refit the front driveshaft. Whilst doing it also do the rear driveshaft, which is very easy, takes 1-2 hours.
