Default Ignition key

When I purchased my 2001 LR II I only got a key that was not the original. The car has an after market Viper alarm/remote starter and I utalize that for the remote options. My question is can I purchase an original remote key or should I just get one that has no insides and have that cut to fit the ignition. Thanks

The D2 has so many parts to the alarm system from the factory that some may still be hooked up. You probably want an original.

be careful where you buy your replacement key. I bought a couple off of ebay that the dealer was able to program for my truck. I also bought a couple that could not be programed. If possible, try to get a key that has the code with it. Sometimes you end up saving money buying from the dealer, as hard as that is to say. There was a guy out of Miami that was selling OEM parts from a dealer at discounted prices. Check on ebay. Good luck. Phil
