Default Ignition/ lock swap. Possible?

I finally got truck running and working out laundry list of fixes. Getting ready to attempt the failed vaction from last year. Anyways, when I bought the truck it came with one stamped key that starts it but wont lock. My parts truck has a working key fob and works door and ignition. Is it possible to switch these out and reprogram the fob. Even if not I need to at least swap so I can lock it. Tried searching with no luck. Thinks in advance.

You can switch the door handle and the ignition.

The remote is only for keyless entry and is not "chipped". So if you have a working remote, it is synced with your BECM, not the ignition.

So can the truck be reflashed or is it just decorative peice at that point. I will prob have alarm/remote start put on so can bypass it. But would be nice to be able to work.

Not sure what you mean. Any remote can be coded to Your rig.

If you can elaborate on your question that would help.

Ok, just re read. You can switch the BECM, ECU, and gauge cluster from parts truck and the remote will work without programming. Recipient vehicle will show mileage from parts truck.

Or, you can program vehicle BECM to work with parts truck remote.

Sorry was half asleep last night. I would like to program the key to my truck without having to swap everything over. The key in parts truck works fine. So to program the key is that a dealership thing or is there a trick to it. I only have one key dont know if that makes a differance. Thanks in advance.

Key can be programmed to your truck. It's a semi dealership thing. Need a specialized tool like nanocomm, Autologic, etc.

Where are you located? Maybe member can help.

I live by Anderson Indiana but in Indianapolis alot. A buddy that has a shop his snapon scanner may support one of those I will check. But if anyone half way close around me I would gladly drive there. Getting ready to install a double din and a flip down monitor so having it lock I would feel alot better.
