Default I'm Coming Back....

Okay, Long Story Short.......Owned a 1998 Disco I a few years ago, loved it, many stories and adventures......Want to buy another.

Figured 03-04 would be the way to go, Found a number that I like, one in particular, but need some advice.....2003 SE w/39k, One owner, dealer serviced, but something in the carfax history makes me a bit skeptical. Last entry is a maintenance service :

Am I being overly cautious, or telltale overheat and sell immediately. Any other signs to look for, I really don't want to buy the truck and replace the engine wthin a couple months....
Thanks a bunch everyone.

I'm going to take a stab at this one. Sounds like the previous owner had a service contract or an extended service plan. What they did probably won't report, but it also sounds like was done by a dealer that does register the VIN for service, we are in the electronic world so this may not be a bad thing. It would be nice to check the owners manual to see if there is any service receipts. The 95 I bought for my wife was a 1 owner and had everything in the owners manual notebook.

What do you plan on using the truck for? 03 doesn't have a locking t/case, 04 does, BIB difference.

General everyday driver, so the locking transfer case not that important to me.

I guess I mean to ask if there are any telltale signs when inspecting that the engine may have overheated. Talked to a well respected indy mechanic who warned not to even call him if the engine overheated. The aluminum block can't take it, and usually needs a complete rebuild.
