This thread is kinda confusing for newbies. Some comments say remove the baffle. Others say put it back? 99-02 is one way .. 03-04 is another? The baffle was put in for a reason. I don't get why it would be removed without replacing it with something.

I tried this mod tonight and snapped off the plastic nipple. Now I'm too scared to risk completing the mod Don't wanna pay a shop to remove a valve cover. Think I'll just let it be until someone makes a video.

Slightly heat up the area of the broken nipple piece inside the IM,
the piece will get warm and soften then fold the broken nipple piece inward with a screwdriver (be careful of the threads),
and pull the rest of it out of the hole with pliers.

Take the baffle out. That's the whole point of the mod. It gets replaced with the PCV at the other end of the hose.
That's it. That's all you do.

Nobody has ever said to put the baffle back. If yours snapped off, drill into it with a wood screw or get some pliers, or follow the directions for the later trucks and pull out the whole tube.
The two model year groups are only different because the end of the tube is more closed over on the later trucks.

I revised my write up “the sticky” and it is as clear as day. If you follow the instructions step by step = it’ll take you 5min on a 99-02 D2 & say 15-20min on an 03-04 due to having to remove the tube on the valve cover to gain access to the baffle, remove it, and drill the hole out.

completely agree, and I’m a novice. I took a little longer because I decided to hack the top of the tube off, but it’s really as easy as can be.

Do you have any photos of the PCV valves showing the hole size?

I ordered one and was sent something else. The hole is very small with a plastic jacket inside. Not sure if it's the right one.

Please go to the main write up/sticky. It is very clear on exactly what to do and how. Follow the steps for your model year 99-02 or 03-04 as they have different a tube config at the valve cover (which is very clearly documented/described) in the write up.

The plastic nipple on the intake is a common failure part hence why I made this upgrade possible in the first place! It deletes that plastic 1/4 nipple at the intake, and the plastic baffle in the tube on the valve cover which is known to clog causing pressure to buildup and oil to seep out of the engine. The FV308 takes care of two problems at the same time. There are several pictures of the FV308 in the main write up/sticky if yours doesn't look like that then you probably got something else shipped to you.

Drilled a hole and screwed in a dray wall screw 1-1.5 inches in ...

Used needle nose pliers with tremedous upward force and using the side as leverage spraying brake cleaner in. It will not come out. Not even 1/2 a millimeter. It will not come out no matter what force I'm using. It's like its welded in.

What now? Is this best when the engine is hot or cold?
