Default instrument panel cluster cowl broken

Anyone figure out a way to fix the instrument panel cowl? The last owner removed the screws and cracked the pieces that hold it down in the back.

Thanks
Sean

Yea mine has cracked also, in a few spots. When I have a nice weekend I plan on take it apart and doing some JB weld or plastic welding on it.

I've had this bookmarked for a while:

I had some time today, so I used gorilla tape to fix the broken plastic holders. Triple layered it. It not only holds, but the sticky side grabs the metal inserts well.

Then i used someone else's suggestion of a #6 1 5/8 drywall screw (in another thread) to tighten the two holes near the steering wheel. Works very well.

near the steering wheel. Works very well.

Mine is busted aswell and I've bought two replacements off of ebay only to have them be broken in someway or another. Is this part not available new? I cant find it anywhere. Drywall screws just seem like a bandaid.

Using the Gorilla Tape really helped secure the top part. And the size of the screws pulls the lower part tight. Best solution i have found, and cheap.

One I got from ebay has the top latches in perfect shape but the mounting posts for the dimmer wheel is busted off. So frustrating..at this point I would pay $500 for a brand new one if there was any available. There are like 50 different part numbers depending on color and who knows what else and I cant find one.

Thats one thing I love about my BMW, I can find a part number for just about any part and get it ordered even if it takes 4 weeks to get it from Germany.
