Default Instrument Panel and Tail Light Problems

For some reason, I've had problems with my intrument panel not lighting up and my tail lights not working. Problem is that it is not just a fuse. They are come and go. Any ideas or suggestions?

I have the same problem on my 1998 Discovery. Did you find out what was causing this?
Thanks.

I have had the same problem with the Instrument Panel not lighting up in a different car, it was cause of the dimmer switch, if i would just slide it down then back up it would work again.

I would suggest checking all your earth connections, this is the most common cause of electrical faults, esp as the vehicle gets older, some of the conenctions become very green with age.
