I have a 2003 Discovery 2 SE7 in Massachusetts and started having issues with the blower this past Spring. I since replaced the resistor and the blower motor. All good for months with cold a/c and all. Now come Winter and it seems that even when up to operating temperature the blower doesn’t kick right on. It may take 20 minutes to start blowing but no issues once it starts. All speeds fully operational and all. I have tested the blower motor and it’s good. Is this normal or should I have higher expectations? Thanks
Drove on the highway 45 minutes today never got above 178 on the UG, felt warm air from the vent but no blower. Blower fan was from Rovers North back in June the resistor was done the year before I believe. Last week I did replace the fuse under the steering column it looked bad but then I got the blower to work after that now no go.
When I bought my truck the blower didn't work & the power supply wires were melted at the blower connector, Fixed it and then it was intermittent as well after.
Believe it ended up being a cracked solder joint in the fuse box. Had 12v power showing but it failed under load of the blower.
I followed a guide here on the site and ran new power with a inline fuse to it to fix it, but I'm not finding that guide at the moment and it's been a few years i kinda forget the details of it.
I'll take a look and see what exactly it was I ran and report back.
Like the last poster, my issue also ended up being the fuse block under drivers side dash. Apparently, it's not that uncommon. I ended up replacing mine with a good used one. They are specific to the vehicle year, I think mostly between pre and post facelift but you may wanna double check that information if you plan on replacing it so you get the correct one.
Also, I think this is the fix mentioned. I can't load the thread for some reason, but I have screen shots from when I was thinking of doing it if you wanna go that route instead of replacing.
I appreciate the responses guys thanks. Looks like I’ll have to attempt either a fuse block swap or a wiring job 😬. Wiring is cheaper so probably try that first.
