Default intermittent electrical issue

Not often, but every once in a hhhwhile, the ac/heater and fog lights won't come on (but the car runs fine). If I shut it off and restart, everything's fine.
Thoughts?

Get out your voltmeter, and test the battery voltage at idle, with just the truck running, should be 13.8 - 14.4 volts. As you turn on loads, like lights and AC, volts will drop, but not go below 13.2. If you have a bad diode in the alternator, it won't put out all 130 amps, and as high amp gear is switched on voltage drops below charging point.

Since they (AC & fogs) don't share common (+) voltage paths (one goes thru ignition key must be on circuit), and don't share common fuses, look for what they do share - the ground path through the frame of the vehicle. Start with under hood fuse box, make sure everything is clean and tight, especially any black wires, which Rover usually uses for ground side. Would think there would be more than one. The RAVE has a map of ground points, in the electrical guide. Also clean your battery terminals and posts, and follow that black cable from (-) battery to be sure it is bonded cleanly to the vehicle.
