Internal Frame Cleaning and Rust Prevention
My frame is in decent shape but I’m trying to make it last for another 20 years. Spent last weekend wire brushing, sanding and coating the exterior of the frame. Now I’m trying to get the interior of the frame cleaned and protected as much as possible.
My thought plan currently is to use a powder washing to get out any dirt and small rust flakes. Then use a drain auger with a drill attachment to break up as much of the larger flakes. After flushing out again with the power washer, I’m thinking about coating the inside with Eastman’s Internal Frame Coating.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Also, has anyone drilled holes in the frame or enlarged the factory ones? It would be alot more effective to flush out with a sewer jetter attachment to my power washer but I don’t think the factory holes in the frame will be large enough to fit.
Thanks

although now I’m debating even washing it out as I’m afraid putting more water down there will just exacerbate any current rust. Might just spray some fluid film in there and call it a day.
I did cut slots in the frame between front and rear axles on one to allow larger pieces to be flushed out. Suggest watching videos on rust protection products. I settled on fluid film on top of the Eastwood frame coating. If you have ever worked on a truck that has been in the north the frame under the engine is coated in oil and looks pristine and the rear end is super rusty. Nothing like a good coating of oil to totally prevent any rust.

However I’m having a tough time finding research on how to prep and what the best product to use is on the interior of a frame that has rust in it already. Some people say to flush it out with water first and clean it as best you can, others say that makes the rust worse as it adds more h2o and just to coat on top of the existing rust.
Probably need to just resign myself to making it better and not dumping a bunch of money into trying to make it perfect
