Having an issue with my Disco 2. Sometimes when I try to start it it just clicks and the car doesn�t start, I have to wiggle the key back and forth a bit or turn off and on again before engine will start. However there are a few times it will start fine the first time. Can�t work out a consistent trick to make it start but have been able to start it eventually each time. Once engine starts car runs absolutely fine and engine does start quickly when it does, everything else on car seems to work fine (other than one window that won�t wind down) Just can�t figure out why it�s doing this.

just had a new battery fitted.

 

If wiggling the key makes a difference I would suspect the ignition switch. I just replaced one on my P38 which won�t be identical but was a relatively easy job.

 

i would check clean and tighten your battery terminals, i had the same issue
