just enjoy driving my 03 Disco 2
I am on a strict budget - self imposed.
23 miles round trip to work and back.
I was putting in $35 every time I want to the gas station.
Now gas is creeping up again.
$4.35 for Premium.
We pay and pay - compared to the Discovery I owners.
A Premium tax - always of an extra $.35 or so a gallon.
At least in California.
I sure don't joyride in the Discovery.
And I feather the gas pedal.
Try to never exceed 60 MPH.

I love my DII.
My last truck was a beautiful, 3" lifted FJ60 that I genuinely miss like crazy. But whenever I see one and feel that pang of envy/remorse, I just look down at my power window and heated seat switches. Then I remember struggling over Vail Pass at 45 with the pedal on the floor and topping out on the flats around 70 in 4th gear. And then having to give my friends a tutorial on how to use a manual choke for cold starts...
There's a lot to be said for modern convenience!
