For internet knowledge and posterity, let it be known that my model year 2002, produced on 9/19/2001, had the CDL spigot. Some take aways from the project (that also involved an extensive tear down of the interior)...
- Interior plastic bits on these trucks are total garbage. What on earth was LR thinking putting brittle ABS everywhere? So much broken plastic. So many eBay orders.
- Get the cable/linkage from a 2004 Disco rather than an aftermarket solution OR one from the Disco 1. It's literally plug and play. This job is already ****ty enough, make it easy on yourself.
- Remove the wiring harness on the transfer case hiding the non-2004 hi-lo solenoid and utilize the solenoid that came with your 2004 linkage that up near the shift lever. Way superior design. Mine was bad anyway, so I had to ditch it, but even if yours is good, if it ever goes bad and you've gone through all the effort of adding a CDL to your Disco, you know you'll never want to access that part of the truck again. Do it all once while you're in there.
- Rather than fuss with rivets to replace the transmission tunnel plate, use these things in the photo below. Much easier and now you can access it anytime without drilling out rivets.
- The whole process was made SO MUCH EASIER by removing the drivers seat. The seat a cinch to remove and well worth it having the extra space inside to access different angles of everything.
- The WORST part of this job that entangled me for like two hours, was trying to put the bolt back in that's about halfway down the length of the hi-lo cable. I removed it for better access to the hi-lo solenoid, and wow did I regret it. I'm convinced it's 100% impossible to put it back in. I ended up making a stud, putting that in its place, and securing with a nut.
- Get a SLABS unit from a later Disco and add that in. Makes life much easier and most of the SRD 000150 units I've seen are almost always $40. Well worth $40 to have everything work right.
This is the first time since I've owned the Disco I've been able to put it into low gear. That plus the CDL plus traction control... I feel unstoppable in this now haha.

I used a $15 push/pull cable from the hydraulic department of Priness Auto and a small wrench from a die grinder as a lever on the transfer case nipple. The cable loops around the passenger seat and comes up between the center console and passenger seat. Easy/cheap and I didn't have to tear apart the center console - every accessed from underneath.
