Default Just got back from the dealer....

Went there to get this issue with the "faint alarm sound" coming from the ABS unit. Service dept said they were unaware of any TSB on it. I asked them to re-program the ABS module anyway and I'll see what happens. They only charged me $50 which I thought was very reasonable. Also ordered up a few parts which I haven't found elsewhere. This is the first highway trip I've made with my D2 since doing the head gaskets and working out all the other gremlins. 70 mile roundtrip and it ran great!! My only complaint is the tires. They're Uniroyal Liberator All Terrain (255/70/16).... not exactly a "quiet tire"

Did your noise go away?
How old is your brake fluid, or maybe I should ask, when was the last time you did a 2 quart bleed to prevent module issues?

The noise is gone.... for now. It doesn't always happen, just about 70% of the time.
I've only had it for 2 months so I don't know how old the brake fluid is. PO said front calipers and brakes were replaced but don't know when.

With your mileage, you should foolow my service list and get that truck current before it starts costing you big dollars.

Thanks Mike! During the engine rebuild, I was able to get a lot done on that list. Brake fluid and differentials are next. I haven't driven it much at all because I have the factory drive shaft. (The PO replaced it last year with one from the dealer) I don't know how long the OEM one will last and I'm not going to find out. So this weekend's project (weather permitting) is drive shaft, brake fluid flush, then differentials.

Mike, also have a question on the differential and t-case fluid. On your sticky you mention "7 Qts. of 80/90W synthetic gear oil, 85W/140 for HD use" I hardly do any off-road but plan on towing a trailer on my many trips from Home Depot. Trailer weight might be around 2,500lbs. Will the 80/90W be sufficient or should I use the 85/140?
