Default Just a heads up for summer:

I had a friend stop by today with his D2 while he was in town, and he had installed what he thought was the 180F that I personally recommended from Lucky8 at the beginning of the year. He installed it & didn’t get to drive it much after the install. Well fast forward to this weekend and he made a trip down to the Houston area. On the way down he noticed his temps weren’t what he expected for a 180F thermostat and a cooling system in great shape.

Today he made his way over to me, and I looked it over for him. I can without a doubt confirm it is NOT the Britpart 180F that I’ve been recommending but an el cheapo identical to the last so called Britpart 180F I purchased one late last year from Lucky8. I still have el cheapo sitting around and when compared side by side = identical el cheapo & not a Britpart 180F (freelander mount gives it away & it wasn’t stamped as a 78C either). We ran down to Auto Zone slapped in a Motorad 180F, filled his coolant, bled it, and off he went back up north. Temps were now where they were supposed to be!

So DO NOT buy the 44.00 black 180F from Lucky8. If you buy from Lucky8 go with the OEM LR Grey 180F thermostat.

Just for kicks I tossed it into a pot of boiling water side by side with a good OEM 190/195F thermostat & they started opening at the exact same time. My comparison was not spot on accurate, but the so called 180F should have certainly started opening sooner vs the OEM 190/195F unit.

I called and someone said "Well it's better than the original old thermostat so bye" I was fine about it at the time since I had ordered the stat a few months prior and had it sitting on a shelf

yeah and now they forgot about my new shock order I placed on the 29th, called Friday and someone said 'well we will get back to you Monday"

OR they could have seen my order with $200 sent to them and sent the damn part out THAT DAY

kind of done with LK8, their service has been slowing down from what I used to get

Yep I'm honestly sticking with the Auto Zone thermostat lol. Cheaper, local, and no wait. I just felt bad for misleading my friend. He only ordered it from Lucky8 because I recommended them and the Britpart 180F. I've ordered from the LR folks in Utah and Miami and got exactly what I ordered no fuss and prompt shipping. I'll give Lucky8 one more shot, but if I have any issues I'll take my $$$$ and my recommendations elsewhere.

I have had a few issues buying unreliable AllMake parts from Lucky8. The last straw was the coil packs which I bought a few months ago. I decided to replace my coil packs when I installed the new Turner engine. The coil packs failed, left me stranded and I had to get towed home. Ran the diagnosis and switched back to my old coil packs (glad I did not throw them away). Everything ran fine again.

I understand you get what you pay off. I have made a general rule to stay away from the AllMakes stuff marketed by Lucky8.

It was not just an experience with unreliable parts. They did not seem to back it up. There was another time a few years ago when undercarriage part which I purchased from them failed. Wrote to Lucky8 a few times, no response. Finally called. The individual said they would get back to me. Did not hear back from him.

I’ve never had a bad experience with Lucky8 but I’ve found that LRdirect and Rimmer Brothers are sometimes half the cost and even with shipping I am getting a much better deal.
