Default Just want a quick confirmation about a MAF

Hi guys,

I'll make this quick (hopefully).

I have an 01 D2 with about 125k on it. All service is current and I replaced the front two O2 sensors a couple months ago. I have a SES light on and keep getting the same 4 codes. Car is running great and has plenty of power.

0171, 0174, 1171, and 1174

I went to the local parts store to get these and the guy who first told me to ignore half of them cause "they don't mean anything" had me start the truck and D/C the MAF plug. I did and the engine died on the spot. He swears the MAF is good. I have sat here and searched through pages upon pages of MAF codes and searched every one individually.

I'm not sure if I'm at information overload or if my conclusion is correct. I need to replace the MAF. If so I will be purchasing it tomorrow with one from BP of Utah.

Thanks,

Mike

I would check for vacuum leaks before ordering the MAF. It's free and quick. Just take some carb/brake cleaner or propane and spray it around vacuum lines and the air inlet and see if the revs change. Also do it around the intake manifold.

Just be careful around the exhaust and other hot areas as it is flammable.

Not to rock the boat, but you have only 1 of the normal 3 codes other then an actual 10 thru 105 code, so I say to hold of and start looking for leaks.

Link to the amazon one? I looked for a min but didn't want to have this issue pop up again in a week or two after. What codes or issues did you fellas have prior to the replacement?

Is there a way to actually test the MAF to check for issues? I unplugged the sensor with the truck running and it died so i'm not too sure what that means.

+1 on the link to the amazon one.

$145 BP Utah, $38 Amazon, $70 Amazon.

Which did you try?
